This article provides a quick reference for locating, accessing, and identifying wiring components on Westwood series grills.
Westwood Series Wiring Diagrams
- Wired components are connected to the back of the grill's controller. They are located inside the hopper cavity. Wired components include:
- RTD
- Probe jack
- Power cord and power switch
- Auger
- Ignitor
- Fan
- Access is gained by removing the hopper service panel. See instructions below for how to access the wiring.
Accessing Wiring on the Westwood Series Grills
To access the wiring harnesses, remove the hopper service panel on the grill's right side by following these steps:
- Power off and unplug the grill.
- Remove the x6 screws from the hopper service panel on the side of the hopper in the following order:
- Remove x2 screws on the back of the panel by the vents first.
- Remove x2 screws on the bottom of the panel second.
- Remove x2 screws on the side of the panel last, holding the panel with one hand to prevent it from falling when the last 2 screws are removed.
- Remove x2 screws on the back of the panel by the vents first.
- Remove the panel to access the back of the controller and wiring harnesses.
Grounding Wires
There are 2 grounding wires that are connected to a weld stud inside the hopper cavity.
Ground Wire Identification
- Yellow ground wire → Hard wired to the Auger Motor
- Green ground wires → Hard wired to the back of the controller
Removing the Ground Wire
- Remove the hopper service panel.
- Use a ½” wrench to remove the nut from the weld stud.
- Slide the ground wires off the stud.
