Learn more about the Grease Management System on Timberline 850 & 1300 grills. The grease management system collects and directs grease away from the cooking area to keep your grill clean and reduce fire risk.
What Is the Grease Management System?
The Grease Management System collects grease from food and sends it to a removable pan.
It has these parts:
- Grease Channel – Inside the barrel, moves grease to the trough (not removable)
- Grease Trough (A) – Collects grease from the channel
- Grease Chute (B) – Moves grease down to the pan
- Grease Pan with Liner (C) – Holds grease for easy disposal
How It Works
Grease drips from food → falls on drip tray → flows into and through the grease management system → ends in grease pan liner.
Maintenance & Cleaning
Why Is It Important?
- Grease buildup can cause fires.
- Too much grease can ignite. Be careful with high-grease foods (like bacon).
CAUTION! Accumulated grease is easier to clean off when the grill is still warm—not hot. Be careful not to burn yourself. Gloves are recommended.
Check Grease Level
- Slide out the grease pan until it hits its stops.
- Lift up to remove grease pan lid.
- Lift up grease pan liner.
- Replace with a new liner if needed.
Tip: The pan comes with a 5-pack of liners. Buy more at traegergrills.com.
Clean the Grease Management System
- Remove grill grates and drip tray.
- Take off the grease chute shield.
- Wipe the trough and chute with a paper towel.
- If grease is hard, use a spoon or a similar utensil to scoop it out.
- Put everything back in place.
Important: The grease channel inside the barrel is not removable. Clean only what you can reach.
