Grill Grate Materials
Traeger grill grates are either stainless steel or porcelain coated cast iron.
Porcelain-Coated Cast Iron
Porcelain coated cast iron grates are durable and help give even heat distribution. They work on Pro grills.
Stainless Steel Grill Grate
Stainless steel grates are durable and encourage even heating of the food across the grate. Stainless steel grates also provide better grill marks.
Do Traeger's Grill Grates Use Teflon?
Traeger does not use the Teflon ingredients PTFE nor PFOA.
Grill Grate Care
For additional cleaning instructions, see Cleaning & Maintaining a Pellet Grill.
- How often should I clean my grill grates? We recommend cleaning your grill grates after any cook where food has been placed directly on (wiping spills and scraping grates).
- When is the best time to clean my grates?: Cleaning the grill grates works best while they are still warm. Be careful not to burn yourself; heat-protective gloves are recommended. After removing your food, give the grill grate a quick brush or scrape. It takes only a minute, and it will be ready the next time you want to use the grill.
- Can I put my grill grates in the dishwasher? It is not recommended that any grill grates be placed in the dishwasher as this may cause the grates to warp.
