Pre-Pairing Checklist

Check OS Version

Traeger WiFIRE works with Android v. 10 or newer / iOS 14 or newer.
- Devices on older OS versions will need to update their device's operating system to pair their grill successfully.

iOS 15 & Newer - Check iCloud Privacy Relay

iOS 15 introduced a feature called Private Relay for iCloud Plus users. This feature must be turned off while pairing the grill. It can be turned back on after successful pairing.
- Only users who have iCloud Plus have Private Relay. Some users may not know if they have iCloud plus. If the customer cannot find Private Relay, they don't have iCloud Plus.

How to Turn Off or Check for iCloud Plus/Private Relay.
- Within the phone/device settings, locate the search bar at the top of the main screen. The user will have to scroll to reveal it.

Search Private Relay. Tap on Private Relay in the search results.
- If the user does not see Private Relay, they do not have it. Continue the pairing process as normal.
- The user should see Private Relay (Beta) followed by On or Off. If it shows Off, Private Relay has been turned off and the user can resume pairing as usual.
- To turn off Private Relay, tap the green toggle and confirm the user wants to turn off Private Relay. Once the pairing process has been complete, follow the steps above to turn Private Relay back on.

- Download the latest app version.
- Turn on Bluetooth.

Check the Home WiFi Setup
- Your home WiFi router signal must be 2.4 GHz (a dual band router should also work).
- Once the Home WiFi has been set up correctly, continue pairing.
Connect and Pair with Android
Review the Pre-Pairing Checklist above before moving forward with the pairing process.
1. Selecting Controller
- Open the Traeger app.
- Grill Icon > +Add Grill

Pairing a second/additional grill:
- Profile icon > +Add Grill.
- Grill icon > Current grill's name > Add Grill.

Select the controller style most similar to the controller on the customer's grill.
- If the controller on the grill is not seen, select " I don't see my controller" this will bring up a list of grills that correspond to each controller.
- Select grill to connect.
- If the controller is not listed, it is most likely that the grill is not WiFIRE enabled.
- If the controller on the grill is not seen, select " I don't see my controller" this will bring up a list of grills that correspond to each controller.
2. Checking Internet Availability
The WiFi setup should have been checked in the Pre-Pairing Checklist. Ensuring the home WiFi is setup correct correctly will allow for a successful pairing.
- If the internet is detected, the screen will want to move towards the pairing process. If it is not the screen will display "No Internet Detected".
- If internet is detected move to step 4.
- If internet is not detected, retry.
- If error repeats itself ensure internet is on and available.
- Exit app and retry.
- Phone WiFi Network = Grill WiFi Network. Make sure your phone is connected to the same network you want the grill to connect to.
3. Pairing Phone to Grill
- Allow Permission for Bluetooth
- Bluetooth is needed to connect to WiFIRE. Bluetooth must be enabled to move forward.
- Allow Traeger to access the devices' location.
- If denied or user manually turned off location permission in phone settings, app will prompt that location permission is required to move forward.
- App will start searching for the grill.
- On the grill's controller, press the Menu button and navigate to WiFIRE Connectivity > Connect Grill. Press, Tap Here to Start Pairing to initiate sending its Bluetooth signal.
- App will search to connect grill.
- Select grill to connect.
- Pairing request will populate.
- If canceled "Something went wrong" error will popup.
- Pairing request will populate.
- Success! Next connect to WiFi.
4. Connecting to WiFi
- Checking WiFi Connection.
- WiFi Found-If the phone is connected to a 2.4 GHz network the app will auto-select that network to connect to.
- Choose Your WiFi-If the phone is not connected to a 5 GHz network or if the phone is not connected to a network, the app will populate a list of available 2.4 GHz networks to choose from. Select desired network.
- If your network is not visible at all, select " Where is my network?". Follow the Tips for Missing Network below.
- Press connect button.
- Enter network password.
- App starts connection process [Testing signal strength].
- Grills connection complete. Move to naming grill and completing set-up.
5. Name Grill and Finish Set-Up
- Name your grill
- Create a nickname or select a pre-generated grill name.
- Success! Grill is paired and connected. Start cooking.
How to Connect & Pair with iPhone
- While your controller's home screen is displayed, tap the menu button.
- The first icon in the menu bar beneath the dot matrix display will light up and you should see "+WiFIRE?" scroll across the display.
- Press the selection dial to choose this option.
- After selecting WiFIRE, the pairing animation above will display on screen, indicating that your grill is broadcasting its Bluetooth signal and is ready to pair.
- A green checkmark will display on your controller to indicate that you have successfully connected to WiFIRE. The WiFi icon on the top right above the dot matrix display will stay lit up when the grill is connected.
Tips for Missing Network
If the app is not able to find your WiFi network during the pairing process, here are somethings you can advise the customer to do.
