What is Private Relay

iCloud Private Relay, an Apple privacy feature in iCloud+ subscriptions, protects your internet activity by routing traffic through Apple's servers. However, it may interfere with device pairing, such as connecting a grill.

Check if Private Relay Is Turned On

If you're using an iPhone or iPad with iOS 15 or later, iCloud Private Relay may be turned on. This can prevent your grill from pairing.  Use the steps below to verify if your Private Relay is turned on.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap your Apple ID (your name at the top).
  3. Tap iCloud.
  4. Scroll down and look for Private Relay.
    • If you do not see Private Relay, continue pairing your grill.
    • If Private Relay shows Off, continue pairing your grill.
    • If Private Relay shows On, turn it off before pairing.

Turn Off Private Relay

  1. Go to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Private Relay.
  2. Tap the toggle to turn Private Relay Off.
  3. Confirm your selection if prompted.
  4. With Private Relay turned off, continue to Connect & Pair your grill.
  5. After pairing is complete, follow the same steps above to turn Private Relay back On.
