Your WiFIRE-enabled grill has several modes. Let's review these modes and understand when your grill will enter them.
Demo Mode
Used by retailers who wish to show how the grill works without actually starting a fire in the firepot.

Ignite
The grill is beginning to fire up based on the temp set provided by the user.
Preheating
Preheat occurs after ignition to help your grill reach the desired temperature.
- Preheat will alert you once the grill has reached an internal temperature within 5 degrees of the set temperature or if the grill has been preheating for at least 10 minutes. Occasionally, if it is cold outside, this will alert you before the grill has reached the set/desired temperature.
Custom Cook
The grill is following a custom recipe (Make Now feature in the app) sent from the Traeger app to the grill with grill steps.
Manual Cook
User-created cook cycle. Cooks that are not pre-set from the app.
Cool-down/Shutdown
The user has initiated a shutdown cycle, and the grill will begin the process of shutting down.
Idle
The grill is plugged in, the power switch is in the ON position and the controller is illuminated (awake), but the grill is not running (not igniting, cooking nor in shutdown modes).
In idle mode, the grill is able to receive firmware updates.
Sleep/Standby
Sleep/Standby Mode on D2 Grills
The grill is plugged in, the power switch is in the ON position, but the controller is not illuminated. This can be caused by either the controller being inactive for a period of time or the controller power button not being pressed.
Grills can download firmware updates when in Sleep/Standby mode.
Sleep/Standby Mode on new Timberlines & Ironwoods
The grill is plugged in, the power switch is in the ON position, but the controller is not turned on.
Grills can download firmware updates when in Sleep/Standby mode.
