Using Make Now in the Traeger App

What's in This Article?

Learn how to get even more out of your WiFIRE-enabled Traeger grill by using the Make Now recipe feature in your Traeger app.

What Is the Make Now Feature

Recipes in the Traeger app include a feature called, Make Now, which sends the recipe's instructions (timer and temperature adjustments) directly to your WiFIRE-enabled grill so you can focus on other things and not worry about keeping tabs on your food.

* Woodridge Series grills do not support the Make Now feature.

Before starting a Make Now cook:

  • Your grill can run only one Make Now recipe at a time
  • Starting a new Make Now cook when another is in progress will end the original Make Now cook and adjust temp and time to the new one
  • Make Now disables manual changes to your grill's timer and temperature from the recipe's steps

Starting a Make Now Cook

  1. Turn on and preheat your grill (Igniting your grill is one of the only things you can't do from the Traeger app).
  2. Find the recipe of your choice within the Traeger app.
  3. Tap, STEPS, to open up the recipe instructions.
  4. Tap, MAKE NOW.

  5. Tap, BEGIN COOK.

  6. Let the grill do the work for you!

Completing a Make Now Recipe

Once the recipe finishes, the grill will change the temperature to KEEP WARM. KEEP WARM sets the grill to 165°F/74°C to keep your food at a safe temperature until you are ready to serve your meal.

The Make Now Progress Bar

The progress bar — indicated by the series of white dots — shows your grill's progress through their Make Now cook. The progress is indicated by the number of completed steps and not by the length of time the entire cook will take.

For example, consider a 1-hour recipe that consists of 7 steps, with step 7 taking 45 minutes. Upon completing step 6, the progress bar will show 6/7 done, even though the recipe still has 3/4 of the time remaining.

Pausing a Make Now Cook

Tapping STOP on a MAKE NOW recipe stops the MAKE NOW feature and puts the grill back to manual mode.

You can resume where you left off by tapping 'Start' from the MAKE NOW widget, which is pinned to your grill's dashboard. The cook cycle instructions will resend to your grill.

  1. In the MAKE NOW widget, tap, STOP.

  2. Tap, YES, STOP, to stop the recipe.

Canceling a Make Now Cook

Canceling a MAKE NOW cook cancels the cook. Unlike stopping a MAKE NOW recipe, you will not be able to resume your cook where you left off.

  1. In the MAKE NOW widget, tap the trash can icon.

  2. The MAKE NOW widget is now removed from your dashboard, and the cook is canceled.

'Make Now Is not Supported'

You may receive the following popup message when attempting to use the MAKE NOW feature in a Traeger app recipe: "MAKE NOW IS NOT SUPPORTED. You currently have no grills connected that support automatic cook commands."
