Thermocouple Replacement Instructions - D2 WiFIRE Grills

• Phillip's Screwdriver

• Scissors

1. Turn off and unplug the grill. Make sure the grill is cool to the touch.
2. Empty the pellets from the hopper.
3. Remove the hopper access panel from the bottom of the hopper.
4. Cut the zip ties that bundle the wires together.
5. Remove the four screws that hold the controller in place and carefully pull the controller away from the hopper.
6. Unplug all components from the back of the controller. 
7. Remove the four screws that secure the hopper to the grill.
8. Remove the hopper from the grill barrel.
   • Pro Tip: This is easy with the help of another person. You may also want to have a stool or other surface available to set the hopper on while you continue replacing the thermocouple.
9. Open the grill's lid and remove the two screws holding the thermocouple in place on the right, interior wall.
10. Remove the old thermocouple.
11. Position the new thermocouple in place.
12. Secure the new thermocouple in place using the two Phillip's screws.
13. Reattach the hopper to the grill using the four screws you removed in Step 6.
14. Plug all connections back into the controller. Each connection is unique and will fit only in its designated spot.
    • Make sure the thermocouple is positioned correctly, lining up the + on the thermocouple and controller connection together.
      
15. Reattach the controller using the four screws you removed in Step 4. 
16. Optional: Bundle the wires together using a new zip tie if you have one on hand.
17. Reattach the hopper access panel to the bottom of the grill.
18. Fill hopper with fresh pellets.
19. Traeger on!

This process is the same for the Century 885, with the exception of the thermocouple placement on the grill. The thermocouple is located on the right interior wall near the grill grate.

Tools Needed:

• Scissors

• Wrench that fits 7/16" bolts

1. Turn off and unplug the grill. Make sure the grill is cool to the touch.
2. Empty the pellets from the hopper.
3. Remove the hopper access panel from the bottom of the hopper.
4. Cut the zip ties that bundle the wires together.
5. Remove the four screws that hold the controller in place and carefully pull the controller away from the hopper.
6. Unplug the thermocouple from the back of the controller. 
7. Remove the grill grates, drip tray and heat baffle.
8. Remove the two screws that secure the thermocouple to the heat shield on the right, interior wall.
9. Remove the six screws holding the upper insulation wall/heat shield in place and the two screws that secure the bottom heat shield.
10. Loosen the six 7/16" bolts that hold the hopper to the grill barrel.
    • Pro Tip: This is easier with an additional person to help hold the hopper as you loosen the bolts.
11. From between the grill and the hopper, pull out the thermocouple grommet.
12. From inside the grill, remove the thermocouple, pulling the thermocouple wire though the grill.
13. Thread the new thermocouple's wire from the grill into the hopper.
14. Replace the thermocouple grommet and position the new thermocouple in place.
15. Tighten the six 7/16" bolts that you loosened in Step 9.
16. Reattach the heat shields using the screws you removed in Step 8, making sure the thermocouple goes through the thermocouple hole in the upper heat shield.
17. Screw the thermocouple in place.
18. Replace the heat baffle, drip tray and grill grates.
19. Plug in the new thermocouple into the back of the controller. Make sure it's positioned correctly, lining up the + on the thermocouple and controller connection together.
    
20. Reattach the controller using the four screws you removed in Step 4. 
21. Optional: Bundle the wires together using a new zip tie if you have one on hand to keep the wires away from the induction fan.
22. Reattach the hopper access panel to the bottom of the grill.
23. Refill the hopper with fresh pellets.
24. Traeger on!

1. Turn off and unplug the grill. Make sure the grill is cool to the touch.
2. Unscrew the WiFi antenna from the bottom of the hopper.
3. Empty the pellets from the hopper.
4. Remove the hopper access panel from the bottom of the hopper.
5. Cut the zip ties that bundle the wires together.
6. Remove the four screws that hold the controller in place and carefully pull the controller away from the hopper.
7. Unplug the thermocouple from the back of the controller. 
8. Remove the grill grates, drip tray and heat baffle.
9. Remove the six screws holding the insulation wall/heat shield in place.
10. Pinch the thermocouple clip to detach the thermocouple from the heat shield.
11. Pull the thermocouple cable down through the brackets on the grill wall.
12. Pull the thermocouple cable out of the grill through the thermocouple grommet on the hopper.
13. From underneath the hopper, fully remove the thermocouple. 
14. Thread the new thermocouple up through the bottom of the hopper and into the grill through the thermocouple grommet.
15. Loop the new thermocouple through the brackets on the grill wall and into the thermocouple clip.
16. Pinch the thermocouple clip as you reattach it to the heat shield.
17. Reinstall the side panel using the six screws you removed in Step 8.
18. Replace the heat baffle, drip tray and grill grates.
19. Plug in the new thermocouple into the back of the controller. Make sure it's positioned correctly, lining up the + on the thermocouple and controller connection together.
    
20. Reattach the controller using the four screws you removed in Step 4. 
21. Optional: Bundle the wires together using a new zip tie if you have one on hand to keep the wires away from the induction fan.
22. Reattach the hopper access panel to the bottom of the grill.
23. Reattach the WiFi antenna to the bottom of the hopper.
24. Refill the hopper with fresh pellets.
25. Traeger on! 

1. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the 4 screws securing the Thermocouple to your grill. 
   
2. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the 4 screws securing the controller in place. 
   
3. Unplug the Thermocouple sensor from the controller.
   
4. Empty the pellets from the hopper.
5. With a wrench, unscrew the screws holding the hopper to the grill.
   
6. Carefully pull the hopper away from your grill. It may be helpful to place something underneath the hopper to help bear the weight (a chair or stool).
   
7. Snip the zip tie binding the Thermocouple wiring between the Hopper and the grill. 
   
8. Pull the Thermocouple all the way through the Hopper and the grill, and out of the grill. 
   
9. Feed through the new Thermocouple through the grill and through the Hopper.
   
10. Plug the new Thermocouple into the controller. 
    
11. Using a Phillips screwdriver, rescrew the controller to the grill. 
    
12. If available, bind the excess Thermocouple wiring with a zip tie between the Hopper and the grill.
13. Slide the Hopper back to your grill. 
14. Using a wrench, re-screw the grill to the Hopper.
    
15. Using a Phillips screwdriver, install the new Thermocouple into your grill. 
    
16. Fill the hopper with fresh pellets.
