Auger & Auger Motor Replacement Instructions for D2 WiFIRE Grills

Replacing an auger (or auger motor) may sound daunting, but it's not difficult. The videos and instructions below are specific to WiFIRE-enabled (D2) grills.

Replacing an Auger/Auger Motor on a Pro 575 & 780

  1. Power off and unplug your grill.
  2. Empty pellets from the hopper.
  3. Unscrew the two screws on the right side of the hopper and remove the access panel from the bottom of the hopper.
  4. Cut the zip ties from both sets of cables.
  5. Remove the four screws holding the controller in place.
  6. Disconnect the plastic connectors from the controller.
  7. Unscrew the four screws that secure the hopper housing to the grill. There are two on the front of the hopper and two on the back.
  8. Remove the hopper housing from the auger assembly and set it aside.
  9. Remove the plastic connector from the auger motor.
  10. Remove the four Phillips screws securing the auger motor to the auger assembly, and remove the motor.
  11. Remove the bushing screw that secures the auger to the auger tube.
  12. Remove the auger from the auger tube and clear out any debris or sawdust.
  13. Insert the new auger and follow these steps in reverse to reassemble your grill.

 

Replacing an Auger/Auger Motor on a D2 Ironwood & Timberline

  1. Power off and unplug your grill.
  2. Empty pellets from the hopper.
  3. Remove the access panel from the bottom of the hopper by removing the four Phillips screws.
  4. Unplug the plastic connector from the auger motor.
  5. Remove the auger motor by unscrewing the four Philips-head screws holding it in place.
  6. Remove the set screw located on the underside of the auger tube.
  7. Slide the auger out of the shaft and clean out any remaining debris.
  8. Insert the new auger and follow the previous steps in reverse to reassemble.
