This article covers the differences between "WiFi Reset" and "Forget Network" on Traeger grills, lists which grill models have these options, and gives step-by-step instructions for performing a WiFi Reset on D2 grills, along with some troubleshooting advice if the network still shows up after resetting.
Which grills have a WiFi Reset function?
D2 WiFIRE grills — those with a controller like the one shown below — offer a WiFi Reset option.
Woodridge Series grills and Timberlines and Ironwoods with touchscreen controllers do not include this feature.
If your grill has a touchscreen, please see Forget Network.
What does a WiFi Reset do?
A WiFi Reset (SSID reset) makes your grill forget any networks it has previously connected to.
- Doing multiple WiFi Resets will not harm or damage the controller.
When should I reset my grill's WiFi?
Resetting your WiFi can be useful whenever you’re connecting a grill that’s been connected to a WiFi network before. Some situations include:
- Connecting a grill that has lost connection
- Connecting a grill to a new WiFi network or if the WiFi network password has changed.
How to do a WiFi Reset
- Turn on the grill and press the Menu button.
- Scroll down to WIFI INFORMATION, then press the controller dial to select it.
- While on the WiFi Information screen, press and hold the Ignite button for 10 seconds.
- Power cycle the grill:
- Turn off and unplug the grill.
- Flip the power switch to the on position.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Flip the power switch to the off position.
- Plug in and turn on the grill.
- Go back to the WIFI INFORMATION screen and check that the network name no longer appears.
Network Still Appears on Grill after a WiFi Reset
If the network still shows up under WIFI INFORMATION after doing a WiFi reset and power cycling the grill, try these steps:
- Disconnect your home network router and make sure the WiFi signal is off.
- Do a WiFi Reset on the grill again.
- The network should no longer appear now.
- Plug in the router again and continue pairing.
