Symptoms of a Grill not Igniting
- The grill is not getting power.
- The IGNITE button is not responding when pressed.
- The IGNITE button responds, but the pellets are not igniting, or the grill is not getting hot.
- The grill is taking too long to ignite.

Grill Errors that Appear when the Grill is not Igniting
What to Do
1. Confirm Power
- Is the grill getting power? Ensure the grill is getting power.
- Ensure grill is fully plugged in to the outlet.
- Follow the power cord to the back of the grill and ensure that it is securely plugged into the grill.
- Is the power button illuminated?
- If the power button is not lit, the grill may not be getting power. See Touchscreen Grill Not Getting Power
- If the power button is illuminated, continue.
- Ensure grill is fully plugged in to the outlet.
- Does the controller turn on?
- If the grill is getting power, but the controller is not turning on, see Touchscreen Controller Display Not Turning On
- If the grill is getting power and the controller is on, continue.
2. Check Pellet Quality
- One of the first thing to check when your grill isn't igniting are the pellets at the end of the auger.
- If there are no pellets at the end of the auger, has primed the auger?
- If unable to check pellets at the end of the auger, check in the hopper.
- Ask probing questions about when pellets were last added or changed.

Pellets should have a nice sheen and have a "snap" to them when breaking (similar to a pencil).
Pellet snap Example of good and bad pellets. The shiny pellets are good, the dull ones are bad - If the pellets crumble or are dull looking (not shiny), empty the hopper and try a new bag of pellets.
- NOTE: It is possible for a new bag of pellets to be compromised. Be sure to check the pellets for quality, not just going off of when the bag was opened.
- Take a screen shot of the pellets to show quality.
- If pellets look good, continue
- If the pellets crumble or are dull looking (not shiny), empty the hopper and try a new bag of pellets.
3. Confirm Firmware

Is the firmware up to date? Check the grill's firmware to ensure it is up to date.

Incorrect Firmware: update their grill's firmware.
- If you can't connect or update successfully, still continue to next steps, noting that update attempts failed in the case notes.
- If the grill isn't connected, stop and get the grill connected so it can download the latest firmware version.
- Incorrect Config: Reach out to customer service.

Power cycle the grill.
- Power cycling may resolve the issue.
- If grill does not ignite after power cycling, continue.

4. Check the Firepot
- Open the grill, check maintenance, and clean out the firepot.
- Pay attention to ash and sawdust buildup and excessive pellets in the firepot.
- Vacuum out any sawdust/ash, remove and empty the firepot, and vacuum out the area underneath the firepot.
- Re-install the firepot, making sure it's installed correctly so the lip isn't caught on the auger tube.
- Once firepot is clean and installed correctly, ignite the grill.
- If the grill ignites, Success! We resolved what may have been prevent the grill from igniting.
- If the grill does not ignite, continue.
5. IGNITE Button Isn't Working
You can tell that the IGNITE button is working properly if, when pressed, the controller displays the text, "Igniting..."
If the controller does not display, "Igniting..." when pressing IGNITE, there is something wrong with the controller. Replace Hopper Assembly.
6. IGNITE Button Works, but Hot Rod Doesn't Heat Up
If the IGNITE button works, but there is no heat when you hover their hand over the hot rod, follow the steps for checking the grills components in 0007: Grill Failed to Ignite.
