How to Replace an Induction Fan
Tools Needed
- Phillips #2 screwdriver
- Pliers
Pro Tips
- Get a second person to help when removing and reinstalling the auger box.
- All screws, unless otherwise noted, are 1/4-20 X 1/2" screws.
- Create a secure space to set aside hardware. As you remove hardware, keep them separated in groupings according to step.
Replacement Instructions:
- Prepare the grill for servicing.
- Turn off and unplug the grill from the power source.
- Empty all the pellets from the hopper.
- Remove the auger box. (Additional person recommended)
- Unplug the power cord from the auger box.
- While one person supports the auger box, remove the x4 screws from the underside of the grill.
- Caution: The auger box will fall if not supported and could cause damage to the wiring harnesses.
- Woodridge Elite: We recommend removing the back-left screw (inside the cabinet behind the auger box) first as it's the most difficult to see and access.
- Slowly lower the auger box until the hopper wire harness is exposed. Detach the connector and remove the auger box from the grill, setting aside on a work surface.
- Access the Induction Fan.
- Remove the x10 screws found on the sides of the auger box (3 on each long side, 2 on each short side) and remove the service panel.
- Turn the auger box upside-down.
Take a pair of pliers and pull out the cotter pin holding the auger motor.
- Carefully slide the auger motor out of the auger shaft and set aside. Do not disconnect the motor from the motherboard.
- Replace the Fan.
- Disconnect the fan connector from the electrical board.
- Remove the x4 screws (8-32 X 1.75") on each corner of the fan and pull the fan out of the auger box, making sure not to touch the circuit board.
Install the new fan with the x4 replacement screws (8-32 X 1.75") so the sticker side is facing up while the auger box is disassembled (i.e. facing the internal side so once the auger box is reinstalled, the sticker is not visible).
This is how it should look assembled - Connect the new fan's wiring harness to the circuit board. You should hear a slight click when it's fully inserted.
- Disconnect the fan connector from the electrical board.
- Reassemble the grill.
- Place the auger motor shaft into the auger, lining up the holes, and push in the cotter pin.
- Reinstall the auger box service panel with the x10 screws you set aside previously.
- Slide the auger box into place from the hopper side, leaving space between the auger box and the underside of the grill to reconnect the auger box wiring harness.
- Lift up the auger box into the grill, ensuring the hopper wiring harness is tucked into the cavity next to the hopper.
- Reinstall the x4 screws you set aside earlier.
- Reattach the power cord to the auger box.
- Be sure to prime the auger before next use.
