Replacing a Woodridge Series Controller & Knob

The instructions outlined in this article apply to the following replacement part numbers on Woodridge Series grills:

How to Replace a Controller Knob

  1. Turn off and unplug grill from power.
  2. Pull knob away from the controller to remove.
  3. Push new knob onto controller.

How to Replace a Controller

Tools Needed

  • #2 Phillips screwdriver

Pro Tips

  • All screws, unless otherwise noted, are 1/4-20 X 1/2" screws.

Replacing a Controller (KIT0922) on a Woodridge

  1. Turn off and unplug the grill from power.
  2. Open the hopper lid and remove the x2 screws from the controller trim, keeping the controller installed in the trim.

  3. Remove x2 screws from the lower portion of the controller trim at the front of the grill.

  4. Carefully lift up the controller and trim belt, then disconnect the RTD and Hopper Wiring harness from the back of the controller. Place the controller and trim belt aside on a work surface.

  5. Using a wrench that fits a #8 nut (typically 11/32 inches), remove the x1 nut (8-32) with the lock washer from the threaded stud on the back of the controller trim. Remove the ground lead wire from the stud.

  6. Remove x2 screws (8-32 X 1/2") from the top of the controller, then pull the controller upwards to remove it from the controller trim.

  7. Place the new controller into the trim by sliding the tabs at the bottom of the controller over the edge of the trim. Make sure that all wiring harnesses are routed out the back of the controller.

  8. Attach the controller to the trim using 2x 8-32 X 1/2" screws at the top of the controller.
  9. Place the ground lead wire onto the threaded stud on the trim and attach using 1x 8-32 nut with lock washer.
  10. Reconnect the RTD and hopper wiring harnesses to the controller, then place the controller and trim assembly onto the grill, making sure that all the wires are tucked in the cavity behind the controller.
  11. Attach the controller trim to the grill using 2x 1/4-20 X 1/2" screws inside the hopper and 2x 1/4-20 X 1/2" screws on the outside below the controller (4x total).

Replacing a Controller (KIT0975) on a Woodridge Pro

  1. Turn off and unplug the grill from power.
  2. Open the hopper lid and remove the x2 screws from the controller trim.

  3. Remove the two screws from the lower portion of the controller at the front of the grill and carefully lift up the controller and trim belt.

  4. Disconnect the RTD, hopper, and pellet sensor wiring harnesses from the back of the controller.

  5. Using a wrench that fits a #8 nut (typically 11/32"), remove the x1 nut (8-32) with the lock washer from the threaded stud on the back of the controller trim. Remove the ground lead wire from the stud.

  6. Remove the x2 screws (8-32 X 1/2") from the top of the controller and pull it upward to separate it from the trim.

  7. Place the new controller into the trim by sliding the tabs at the bottom over the edge of the trim.

  8. Attach the controller to the trim by screwing in the two screws at the top of the controller.
  9. Place the ground lead wire onto the threaded stud on the trim and attack the nut with the washer.
  10. Reconnect all wiring harnesses.
  11. Attach the controller trim to the grill.

Replacing a Controller (KIT1002) on a Woodridge Elite

  1. Turn off and unplug the grill from power.
  2. Below the controller, remove the x4 screws from the filler panel. Set the panel aside. 
  3. Open the hopper lid and remove the x2 screws from the controller trim, keeping the controller installed in the trim.

  4. Remove the x2 screws from the lower portion of the controller trim at the front of the grill.

  5. Carefully lift the controller and trim belt up, then disconnect the RTD, hopper, and pellet sensor wiring harnesses from the back of the controller. Place the controller and trim belt aside on a work surface.

  6. Using a wrench that fits a #8 nut (typically 11/32 inches), remove the x1 (8-32) nut with lock washer from the threaded stud on the back of the controller trim. Remove the ground lead wire from the stud.

  7. Remove the x2 screws (8-32 X 1/2") from the top of the controller, then pull the controller upwards to remove it from the controller trim.

  8. Place the new controller into the trim by sliding the tabs at the bottom of the controller over the edge of the trim. Make sure that all wiring harnesses are routed out the back of the controller.

  9. Attach the controller to the trim using the x2 screws (8-32 X 1/2") at the top of the controller.
  10. Place the ground lead wire onto the threaded stud on the trim and attach using the x1 (8-32) nut with lock washer.
  11. Reconnect the RTD, hopper, and pellet sensor wiring harnesses to the controller, then place the controller and trim assembly onto the grill, making sure that all the wires are tucked in the cavity behind the controller.
  12. Attach the controller trim to the grill using x2 screws inside the hopper and x2 screws on the outside below the controller (x4 total).
  13. Reattach the filler panel below the controller using x4 screws.
  14. Service complete.
