How to Replace a Backsplash
SKUs: KIT0961 & KIT0977
Tools Needed:
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Note: All screws in these instructions are 1/4-20 X 1/2" screws.
Remove the Old Backsplash
- Prepare the Grill for Servicing:
- Turn off and unplug the grill from power.
- Open the grill lid and remove the grill grates and the drip tray.
- Pro Tip: Hang the grates and drip tray on the hooks located at the front, left, and right sides of the grill. Do not use the rear hooks.
- Remove the Heritage Trim Piece:
- Remove the x1 screw found on the upper-back side of the grill between the hopper and the grill body.
- Slide the trim band located between the hopper and grill body out from the back side of the grill.
- Remove the Lid:
- From the inside of the grill lid, remove the cotter pins from each lid hinge. Remove the 3/8" washers from the hinge pins.
- Close the grill lid and remove the two lid hinge pins.
- Remove the grill lid by carefully lifting the lid up and away from the grill.
- From the inside of the grill lid, remove the cotter pins from each lid hinge. Remove the 3/8" washers from the hinge pins.
- Disconnect the RTD:
- Open the hopper lid and remove the x2 screws from the controller trim, keeping the controller installed in the trim belt. Remove the x2 screws from the lower portion of the controller trim on the front of the controller.
- Woodridge Elite only: Below the controller, remove the x4 screws from the front-right trim panel. Set the panel aside.
- Carefully lift the controller and trim belt away from the grill and disconnect the RTD wire harness from the back of the controller.
- Place the controller and trim belt back into the grill, leaving it unscrewed
- Open the hopper lid and remove the x2 screws from the controller trim, keeping the controller installed in the trim belt. Remove the x2 screws from the lower portion of the controller trim on the front of the controller.
- Remove the Backsplash:
- Remove the x2 screws from the center backsplash at the rear of the grill and remove the back hooks.
- Remove the x2 screws from both the left and right backsplash on the inside (x4 screws total).
- Lift the 3 backsplash panels off of the grill.
- Remove the x2 screws from the center backsplash at the rear of the grill and remove the back hooks.
Install the New Backsplash:
- Install the New Backsplash:
- Attach the new left and right backsplashes to the new center backsplash by sliding the clips into the slots on the center backsplash, making sure the L and R arrows on each side match.
- Lift the 3 new backsplash panels up and onto the grill body. As you set the panels in place, route the RTD wire harness through the hole into the space between the grill and the hopper.
- Install x2 screws to both the left and right backsplash pieces to the grill body (x4 screws total).
- Place the x2 hooks onto the center backsplash at the rear of the grill and secure in place using x2 screws.
- Reconnect the RTD & Reinstall the Controller:
- Lift the controller and trim belt away from the grill and route the RTD wire harness through the rectangular opening at the front of the grill. Reconnect the RTD to the back of the controller.
- Set the controller and trim belt back in place, making sure all wires are tucked in the space behind the controller. Reinstall the x4 screws to secure the trim belt to the grill.
- Woodridge Elite only: Below the controller, reattach the front right trim panel using x4 screws.
- Reinstall the Heritage Trim Piece:
- From the back of the grill, slide the trim band into the space between the hopper and the grill. Make sure the tab on the trim belt fits into the slot at the front of the grill.
- Reinstall the x1 screw to reattach the Heritage Trim Piece.
- Reinstall the Lid:
- Carefully place the lid back onto the grill, aligning the holes between the lid and backsplash.
- Reinstall the hinge pins.
- Carefully open the lid and make sure the hinge pins are pushed fully inward.
- Place x1 washer onto each hinge pin.
- Install x1 cotter pin on each hinge pine to secure the pin in place.
- Reassemble Internal Components:
- Reinstall the drip tray and grill grates.
- Backsplash Replacement Complete!
How to Replace Backsplash Hooks

- Note: All screws in these instructions are 1/4-20 X 1/2" screws.
Replacement Steps
- Turn off and unplug grill from power.
- Remove rear backsplash hooks by unscrewing the 1/4-20 X 1/2" screw from each hook.
- Mount the new rear backsplash hooks and secure in place with the replacement screws.
