Pro Tips

  • To prevent screws from falling into the auger, we recommend that you cover the inlet with something such as a small piece of cardboard or paper.
  • All screws, unless otherwise noted, are 1/4-20 X 1/2" screws.
  • Create a secure space to set aside hardware. As you remove hardware, keep them separated in groupings according to step.

Step 1. Prepare the grill

  1. Power Off the Grill: Turn off and unplug the grill from power.

  2. Empty the Hopper: Place a pellet bucket below the pellet dump door, open the pellet dump door, and allow all pellets to flow into the bucket. Once empty, close the pellet dump door.
    • Pro Tip: Cover the auger inlet at the bottom of the hopper with a small piece of cardboard or paper so screws don't accidentally fall into the auger.

Step 2. Remove the Current Hopper Wire Harness

  1. Remove the Hopper Pellet Grate: Inside the hopper, remove x2 screws from the hopper pellet grate. Remove the grate and set aside.

    7. Remove the hopper wire harness from the cavity in front of the hopper.

Step 3. Install the New Hopper Wire Harness & Reassemble the Grill

  1. Connect the New Hopper Wire Harness: On the new hopper wire harness, note the tags labeled "A" and "B" at each end. Insert the hopper wiring harness into the cavity with the "A" end pointing down to the auger box and the "B" end pointing up to the controller. Push the 2X preinstalled fir tree zip ties into the holes in the hopper wall.
  2. Reconnect Component Connections & Reinstall the Controller & Trim Pieces:
    1. Reconnect the RTD wiring harness, hopper wiring harness, and (if applicable) pellet sensor wiring harness to the controller.
    2. Place the controller and trim assembly onto the grill, making sure that all the wires are tucked in the cavity behind the controller.
    3. Attach the controller trim to the grill using x2 screws inside the hopper and x2 screws on the outside below the controller (4x total).
    4. Below the hopper, reconnect the hopper wiring harness to the auger box wiring harness.
  3. Reassemble Hopper Components:
    1. Reattach the front bottom hopper cover using x3 #8 X 3/8" thread forming screws, making sure that the hopper and auger box wiring harnesses are tucked above the cover.
    2. Inside the hopper, remove any objects you may have used to cover the the auger inlet. Reattach the hopper pellet grate using x2 screws.
  4. Service complete! Be sure to prime the auger before next use.
