How to Replace an AC Ignitor Wire Harness
Take the following steps to replace an AC ignitor wire harness.
Removal
Watch the first 19 seconds of the replacement video below for steps 1-6.
- Ensure grill is off and unplugged.
- Open the grill cabinet door.
- Remove 4 screws holding the hot rod service panel in place.
- The hot rod service panel will drop down and allow access to the Hot rod.
- Disconnect the two connecters for the hot rod and flame sensor.
- Remove the hopper side service panel by removing 6 screws (2 located on top of the access panel, 2 below the hopper side rail, and 2 on the bottom of the access panel).
- IMPORTANT: In order to proceed, customers will need to remove the hopper service panel. Follow Using a Manual Impact Driver to Access Hopper Interior below before following the replacement instructions steps.
- Pro Tip: Some customers find this easier if they remove the P.A.L Rail first.
- Remove the smart combustion cover.
- Disconnect ignitor harness from motherboard.
- Gently pull the ignitor harness wiring through the fan box grommet near the back of the power strip.
Install
- Connect the new AC ignitor harness to the motherboard.
- Ensure the harness is routed properly through the cable holding features of the Smart Combustion base.
- Ensure the harness is routed properly through the cable holding features of the Smart Combustion base.
- Gently push the AC ignitor harness through hopper grommet.
- Connect the harness to the hot rod and reconnect the flame sensor.
- Push the hot rod service panel back up and screw back into place.
- Replace the smart combustion cover and secure it in place.
- Replace and secure the hopper side access panel.
Using a Manual Impact Driver to Access Hopper Interior
IMPORTANT: Before proceeding
To continue you'll need to remove your hopper service panel. To remove this panel for the first time, you'll want to use an impact driver to remove the screws behind the P.A.L rail on your hopper service panel.
- If this is your first time removing the hopper service panel and you don't have an impact driver of your own. Contact our customer support team and we'll send you a complimentary manual impact driver.
- If you already have a manual impact driver, proceed to removing the hopper service panel.
- If you have already removed the service panel screws, you can disregard the impact driver and use a regular Phillips screwdriver.
