Firepot & Ignitor Assembly Replacement Instructions - Touchscreen Grills

The hot rod service panel on Touchscreen holds the hot rod and the flame sensor, both of which are replaced with a new hot rod service panel. Depending on when you received a replacement, you received one of two versions of the ignitor assembly. Select the proper replacement instructions below:

Replacing a Hot Rod Service Panel

To replace the hot rod on a new Timberline or Ironwood grill, we suggest replacing the entire Ignitor & Flame Sensor Assembly. The AC Ignitor Wire Harness (KIT0685) needs to be replaced at the same time. Check Wiring Harnesses to see how it all connects.

Included in the Assembly: Hot rod, Flame sensor, Hot rod service panel

 

Tools Needed

  • Phillips screwdriver

  1. Open the cabinet door.
  2. Remove 4 screws holding the hot rod service panel in place.
  3. The hot rod service panel will drop down and allow access to the Hot rod.
  4. Disconnect the two connecters for the hot rod and flame sensor.
  5. Remove screw that is holding hot rod to service panel.
  6. Slide hot rod out
  7. Replace with new hot rod making sure the end of the hot rod is only exposed about 3/4" (20 mm).
    • Remove QR code sticker prior to installing. 
  8. Reinstall screw that holds hot rod to service panel.
  9. Connect the connections for the new Ignitor and Flame Sensor Assembly.
  10. Reinstall the 4 screws on the assembly base to secure it to the grill.

 

How to Replace a Firepot & Ignitor Assembly

To replace the hot rod on a Touchscreen Timberline or Ironwood grill, it's easier to replace the entire Ignitor & Flame Sensor Assembly. When doing this, you must also replace the firepot.

Tools Needed: 

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Manual Impact Driver

This video shows how to replace the hot rod. If replacing the entire assembly, skip seconds :20 - :28.

 

Ignitor Assembly Replacement

  1. Unplug the grill from the outlet.
  2. Open the cabinet door (for Timberline grills).
  3. Remove the igniter access panel by unscrewing the four screws. Be cautious of falling ash and pellet debris

  4. Disconnect the igniter and flame sensor wire connectors to remove the panel.flame sensor and ignitor wire connection
  5. Remove the hopper side service panel by unscrewing six screws (two on top, two below the hopper side rail, and two on the bottom).
    • Remove the hopper service panel using a manual impact driver
      Pro Tip: Removing the P.A.L Rail first can make this easier.
  6. Locate the ground wire in the service kit. Attach one ring connector to the ground stud using the existing nut.

  7. Feed the ground wire through the grommet at the bottom of the hopper near the power strip.
  8. Pull the ground wire through the igniter hole in the grill barrel.
  9. Connect the ground wire to the new igniter access panel assembly.New ignitor- ground wire
  10. Connect the igniter and flame sensor wire connectors.
  11. Secure the new igniter access panel to the grill with four screws.
  12. Reinstall the hopper side service panel with the six screws.

 

Firepot Replacement

  1. Open the grill lid and remove the grates, drip tray, and heat shield.
  2. Remove the old firepot by lifting the tab beneath the auger and pulling upwards.
  3. Slide the new firepot in place, ensuring the threaded rod goes through the hole in the igniter access panel.
    Note: Remove any cardboard in the ignitor cavity if assembling a grill for the first time.Install new firepot -yos.png
  4. Fasten the firepot with the wing nut provided.

  5. Reinstall internal components.
  6. Plug in the grill, power it on, and update the firmware.
