Firepot & Ignitor Assembly Replacement Instructions - Touchscreen Grills

Learn how to safely and easily replace the Firepot & Ignitor Assembly on your Timberline or Ironwood touchscreen grill. Follow these simple steps to get your grill back in action!

Before You Begin

Tools You’ll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Manual impact driver (for Firepot replacement)

Safety Precautions

  • Always unplug your grill before starting.
  • Watch out for falling ash and pellet debris when removing panels.

Pro Tips for Replacements

  • If the grill won’t ignite after replacement, verify all wire connections are secure, and the fuse (KIT1035) is properly installed.
  • Ensure the hot rod end is exposed approximately 3/4" (20 mm).
  • Remove QR code sticker before installing the new assembly.

Before removing the hopper service panel: check your grill’s manufacturer date

  • June 2023 (2306) or after: Proceed to remove service panel.
  • Before June 2023 (2305): Remove the access panel using an impact driver to prevent the possibility of stripped screws. If you don't have one on-hand, contact Traeger Support.

Replacing a Firepot & Ignitor Assembly (KIT1049, KIT1032 & KIT1043)

Applies to: KIT1032, KIT1043 (New Design)

Step 1: Prepare the Grill

  1. Unplug the grill.
  2. Open the cabinet door (Timberline only).

Step 2: Disconnect the Ignitor Assembly

  1. Remove the ignitor access panel (x4 screws).

  2. Let the panel drop down to access the ignitor and flam
  3. Disconnect ignitor and flame sensor wires.

Step 3: Connect Grounding Wire

  1. Remove hopper side service panel (6 screws).
  2. Locate the ground wire in the service kit
  3. If the ground wire is attached to the igniter, remove by unscrewing.
  4. Attach ring connector to ground stud using existing nut.grounding wire - Yos
  5. Feed ground wire through grommet near power strip.
  6. Pull wire through ignitor hole in grill barrel.
  7. Connect ground wire to new ignitor panel.

Step 4: Install New Ignitor Assembly

  1. Connect the ignitor and flame sensor wire connectors.
  2. Secure the new ignitor access panel to the grill with four screws.
  3. Pull excess ground wire slack into the hopper.
  4. Reinstall the hopper side service panel with the six screws.

Step 5: Install the Firepot

  1. Open the grill lid and remove the grates, drip tray, and heat shield.
  2. Remove the old firepot by lifting the tab beneath the auger and pulling upwards.

  1. Slide the new firepot in place, ensuring the threaded rod goes through the hole in the ignitor access panel.
    Note: Remove any cardboard in the ignitor cavity if assembling a grill for the first time.Install new firepot -yos.png
  2. Fasten the firepot with the wing nut provided.

  3. Reinstall internal components.
  4. Plug in the grill, power it on, and update the firmware.
Replacing an Ignitor & Flame Sensor Assembly

Applies to: KIT1043 | KIT1049

*The video below includes instructions to replace the hot rod. When replacing the ignitor & flame sensor assembly, follow the instructions, disregarding seconds :20 - :28.

Step 1: Prepare the Grill

  1. Unplug the grill.
  2. Open the cabinet door (Timberline only).

Step 2: Disconnect Old Ignitor Assembly

  1. Remove the ignitor access panel (4 screws).

  2. Let the panel drop down to access the hot rod/ignitor.
  3. Disconnect the two connecters for the ignitor and flame sensor.

  4. Remove ignitor & flame sensor assembly

Step 3: Install New Ignitor Assembly

  1. Reconnect the hot rod and flame sensor wires.

    • Remove the QR code sticker before installing.
  2. Reinstall the 4 screws to secure the panel to the grill.
