Replacing the Legs & Wheels on a Westwood Series Grill

Instructions for how to replace the legs and wheels on a Westwood and Westwood XL grill.

Tools Needed

  • Phillips Screwdriver
  • Blanket or piece of cardboard to lay the grill on

Leg Replacement Instructions

Estimated Time to Complete

  • Replacing a leg will take approximately 10 minutes to complete

Prepare Grill

  1. Power off and unplug the grill.
  2. Empty the pellets out of the hopper.
  3. Open lid and remove grates, drip tray, and heat baffle.
  4. Remove the cotter pins on each side of the lid.

  5. Remove the washers on each side of the lid.

  6. Close the lid.
  7. From the outside of the lid, pull the pins out.

  8. Lift the lid off the grill.
  9. Place a blanket or piece of cardboard on the ground and lay the grill on its side, hopper side down.
    • This is easier to do with the help of another person

Remove Wheels and Axel

  1. Remove the large wheels by removing the cotter pin from each wheel and sliding the wheel off.
  2. Slide the axel out.

Remove the Bottom Shelf

  1. Remove the x2 screws at the bottom of each leg that hold the bottom shelf on
  2. Remove the bottom shelf.

Remove the Leg

  1. Remove the X4 screws from the leg being replaced.

  2. Remove leg.

Replace the Leg

  1. Insert new leg and replace X4 screws.
    • Hand tighten the screws only. You will use a screwdriver to fully tighten them once the grill is stood back up.
    • If replacing a leg with a leg cap, screw the leg cap onto the new leg using the X1 screw.

  2. Slide bottom shelf in place and replace X2 screws at the bottom of each leg to hold it in place.
  3. Slide the axel through the holes in the legs and replace the large wheels using the cotter pin to hold them in place.

  4. With the help of another person, stand the grill upright.
  5. Using a screwdriver, tighten completely the X4 screws on the leg that was replaced.
  6. Place the lid on the grill in the closed position and push the pins through from the outside of the grill.

  7. Open the lid and place the washers on the lid pins (1 on each side).
  8. Slide the cotter pins into the lid pins. Repeat on the other side.
  9. Replace the grill grates, drip tray, and heat baffle.
  10. Fill the hopper with pellets.

  1. Slide the axel through the holes in the legs and replace the large wheels using the cotter pin to hold them in place.
