Replacement Instructions
Estimated Time to Complete
- Replacing the ignitor will take approximately 20-25 minutes to complete.
Removing the Old Ignitor
- Power off and unplug the grill.
- Remove the x6 screws from the hopper service panel on the side of the hopper in the following order:
- Remove x2 screws on the back of the panel by the vents first.
- Remove x2 screws on the bottom of the panel second.
Remove x2 screws on the side of the panel last.
Hold the panel with one hand to prevent it from falling when removing the last 2 screws.
- Remove x2 screws on the back of the panel by the vents first.
- Remove panel.
- Cut the zip tie holding the wires together.
Unplug the ignitor wire connection from the back of the controller, from the section labeled Ignitor.
- Open the grill lid and remove grates, drip tray, and heat baffle.
- Vacuum out any residual ash and pellets from the firepot.
Remove the x4 screws from each corner of the firepot.
- Push the firepot away from the hopper, rotate it 45°, and wiggle it out to expose the ignitor wires
Loosen the screw holding the ignitor in place and pull the ignitor out of the firepot.
If you have difficulty removing this screw with a screwdriver, use a 5/16" wrench to loosen it
Pro Tip: Tape the off-white wires' Molex connector of the new ignitor to the old ignitor to help guide the new ignitor wiring through the grill as you remove the old ignitor. Remove the tape once the old ignitor is removed.
Installing the New Ignitor
- From inside the hopper cavity, pull the old ignitor's wires to remove the old ignitor. The new ignitor wires should come with it.
- Plug the new ignitor wires into the back of the controller.
- Zip tie the wires back together to prevent them of getting in the way of the fan blades.
- Insert the new ignitor into the firepot, line up the mounting bracket, and replace the set screw.
- Place the firepot back in place and secure it using the x4 screws.
- If replacing the firepot as well, use the new firepot.
- Replace the heat baffle, drip tray, and grill grates.
