Disconnect the RTD (Temp Sensor Probe) at the black Molex connection. These are the black and white wires.
Pro Tip: Attach a long string (4 feet) to the black Molex connector before so that it is easier to trace the path for the new RTD.
- Open the grill lid and remove the grates and drip tray.
- Locate the RTD inside the grill body on the righthand side.
Unscrew the x2 screws on each side of the RTD
*If you are having difficulty removing the back screw (closest to the lid) try using a short screwdriver that will fit underneath the grate bracket to get a straighter angle on the screw.
Pull the RTD towards the inside of the grill to remove it.
Installing the New RTD
- Route the new RTD wires through the same path as the old RTD followed.
- If you attached a string to the old Molex connector, attach the new RTD wire to the string and pull it back through. Remove the string.
- Plug the new RTD wire into the black Molex connector coming from the back of the controller.
- Check the wire placement to ensure there are no wires near any fan blades.
- Use the included zip tie to secure the wires so they don't get near a fan.
- Secure the new RTD to the grill barrel using the included x2 screws.
- Replace the hopper service panel using the x6 screws.
- Install the x2 screws on the side panel, followed by the x2 screws on the bottom, and lastly the x2 screws on the back of the panel.
