RTD Installation: Junior & Tailgater

How to install a new RTD to your Ranger or Tailgater Traeger grill.

Supplies Needed

  • Wrench
  • Grill cleaner
  • Paper towels or rags
  • Gloves
  • Phillips screwdriver (#2 size)
  • Slotted screwdriver (1/8” or 3mm)

How to Install an RTD

  1. Clean the grill thoroughly.
  2. Using your Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the 2 screws securing the RTD to your grill.

  3. Using your Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the 2 screws securing the controller to your grill.

  4. Unplug the RTD sensor from your controller.

  5. Using your wrench, unscrew the screws connecting the hopper to your grill.

  6. Pull the hopper away from your grill.

  7. Pull the RTD out of your grill.

  8. Feed the new RTD through your grill.
  9. Plug the new RTD into your controller.

  10. Using your Phillips screwdriver, rescrew the controller to your grill.

  11. Reconnect the hopper to your grill.
  12. Using your wrench, rescrew the hopper to your grill.

  13. Using your Phillips screwdriver, screw on the new RTD to your grill.
