WiFIRE-ENABLED GRILL POWER ISSUES

What's in This Article?

Occasionally, a grill may experience power issues. If your grill isn’t turning on or is unexpectedly turning off, follow the troubleshooting steps below to get back grilling.

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR GRILL HAS POWER ISSUES

  1. Check the grill’s power cord connection. Ensure the cord is undamaged and is securely connected underneath the grill and into the outlet.
  2. Plug the grill directly into the outlet if using an extension cord or a power strip.
  3. Check the outlet.
    1. Did the outlet trip? If using a GFI outlet (an outlet with a small center button commonly found in bathrooms or near water), the outlet may have tripped. Reset the outlet by pressing the center button. If the center button has not popped out, the outlet did not trip.
    2. Test the outlet. Plug another appliance (toaster, blow dryer, coffee maker) into the outlet and turn it on. If a GFI outlet trips during this test, there is an issue with the outlet or the circuit box. Consult an electrician to resolve the issue.
      • The appliance used must pull at least 300 watts for this test to work. Small appliances similar to those listed should work. A phone/device charger will not suffice.
      • GFI (GFCI) outlet information – Although GFI outlets have a lifespan of 20 years, they tend to have issues after 5 years.
    3. Plug in the grill, turn it on and start a cook session. Please contact Customer Support for further assistance if the GFI outlet trips again.
  4. Check for the power brick’s green light.
    1. While the grill is plugged in and turned on, remove the protective grate under the hopper.
      • For Ironwood and Timberline grills, you can simply look into the hopper to locate the power brick light. It may be difficult to tell if the light is on or off during a bright day. The green light indicates the power brick is working.

      • For Pro grills, look up from the ground into the underside of the hopper and look for a small green light near the top of the power brick. You may need to remove the brick from the holder to check the light. It may be difficult to tell if the light is on or off during a bright day. The green light indicates the power brick is working.

    2. If the power brick isn’t working, or if the power brick is working but the controller is not lighting up, contact Customer Support.
  5. Check for loose connections or wires.
    1. Unplug the grill before checking the wires.
    2. Unscrew the four screws securing the control panel to the hopper. Gently pull out the control panel from the hopper.
    3. Ensure all the wires are securely plugged into the back of the control panel. Secure the control panel back to the grill.
    4. If there is any wire damage like scorch marks or broken wires, call Customer Service.
  6. Power cycle the grill.
    1. Turn off the main power switch and unplug the grill.
    2. Wait 10 seconds.
    3. Plug in the grill and turn on the power switch.
  7. If the grill is still having power issues, please call Customer Support
