Woodridge Series Controller Shows ---F After Igniting

What's in This Article?

"---F" and "---C" is the default screen that indicates your Woodridge Series grill is ready for use. Seeing this screen after trying to ignite the grill usually means the ignite button wasn't pressed within 5 seconds of setting the temperature.

What ---F / ---C Means

"---F" (or "---C" if the grill is set to display temperature in Celsius) is the default screen when the grill is powered on but not in use. It indicates the grill is ready and waiting for the user to set the grill's temp and ignite the grill.

  • The three dashes (---) indicate an unset temp
  • "F" or "C" indicate the temperature scale (Fahrenheit or Celsius) the controller is configured to display.

Why does my controller show ---F (---C) after igniting?

A controller reverting back to the ---F or ---C screen after igniting your grill usually means you didn't press the ignite button within 5 seconds of setting the temperature.

The ignite button must be pressed within 5 seconds of setting the grill's temperature.

To prevent this from happening again, make sure you're igniting your Woodridge Series grill correctly:

If you're following the right steps and the controller continues to revert to the ---F / ---C screen:

  • Remove the protective film from your controller if it's still on. The film can interfere with your controller's responsiveness to touch commands.
  • Clean off the ignite button. Dirt and dust can also interfere with controller responsiveness.
  • Power cycle the grill and try igniting again.
  • Update firmware, if needed.
