No Power- Woodridge Series Grills

What's in This Article?

Symptoms

If your grill is not turning on, it usually means one of the following:

  • Controller display is not turning on
  • Grill is not igniting
  • Grill is not getting power (ignition switch is not lighting up)

Causes

  • Wire connections to the controller are not securely connected.
  • Wire connections in the auger box are not securely connected.
  • Incorrect ignition process.
  • Faulty outlet or extension cord.
  • Faulty parts

What to do

1. Make sure you're in the right article

You're in the correct article if the power switch does not light up and the controller screen does not come on, follow the steps below:

2. Check the Power Source

  1. If the outlet is a GFI/GFCI outlet, make sure it hasn't tripped by pressing the middle button.
  2. Plug another appliance (toaster, blow dryer, coffee maker) into the outlet, and turn it on. The appliance must pull at least 300 watts for this test to work. Small appliances similar to those listed should work. A phone charger will not suffice.
    • If there is no power, try another outlet, have the customer see if their circuit breaker tripped, or have the customer consult an electrician for that outlet.
  3. If the outlet is working, check the power source/components
    • Ensure the cord is undamaged and fully plugged in. If the power cord is damaged, replace the power cord.
    • If using an extension cord, plug the grill directly into the outlet. If grill powers on, the extension cord is at fault.

3. Check Component Connections

If the issue is not resolved, check the connections in the auger box:

  1. Access the inside of the auger box.
    NOTE:
You only need to remove the cover. The auger box can stay installed on the bottom of the grill.
    1. Unscrew the x10 screws from the auger box (x2 on each end, x3 along each side).

  2. Check Wiring Connections
    1. Ensure that the cable from the drivetrain circuit board is connected to the main controller, by unplugging and plugging the cable back in.

    2. Confirm wiring is not pinched, cut, or damaged inside auger box.
    3. Confirm that there is no visible damage to the circuit board.
  3. Reassemble the auger box.

4. Ignite the Grill

  1. Ignite the grill.
  2. If the issue is still not resolved, contact customer service.
