What is an AC Wire Harness?

An AC wire harness delivers AC power to the power supply board when triggered by the power button.

How to Replace an AC Wire Harness

Take the steps below to remove and replace an AC Wire Harness.

Removal

1. Ensure grill is off and unplugged.
2. Remove the hopper side service panel by removing 6 screws (2 located on top of the access panel, 2 below the hopper side rail, and 2 on the bottom of the access panel).
   
   • IMPORTANT: In order to proceed, customers will need to remove the hopper service panel. Follow Using a Manual Impact Driver to Access Hopper Interior below before following the replacement instructions steps. 
   • Pro Tip: Some customers find this easier if they remove the P.A.L Rail first.
3. Find the back-side of the power strip and remove all the connections from the terminals. 
4. Remove the power button socket from the power button.
5. Remove the smart combustion cover.
6. Remove larger AC connector from AC power supply board.
7. For grills with version B of power supply board: Remove power supply ground connector.
8. Remove ground ring terminal from hopper grounding stud.
9. Remove AC connector from motherboard.

Install

Replacement steps below correspond to the labeled parts on the images in this section.

1. Connect AC connector to motherboard.
2. Connect larger AC connection to the power supply board.
3. Power supply ground
   • For power supply version A: bend power supply ground backwards and zip tie it.
   • For power supply board version B: connect to spade connector.
4. Connect ground ring terminal to hopper grounding stud.
5. Attach power button connector to the power button.
6. Connect AC inlet to the back of the power strip. Make sure it is properly wired.
7. Replace the cover and attach it by securing it in place.
8. Replace and secure the hopper side access panel.

Using a Manual Impact Driver to Access Hopper Interior

IMPORTANT: Before proceeding

To continue you'll need to remove your hopper service panel. To remove this panel for the first time, you'll want to use an impact driver to remove the screws behind the P.A.L rail on your hopper service panel. 

1. If this is your first time removing the hopper service panel and you don't have an impact driver of your own. Contact our customer support team and we'll send you a complimentary manual impact driver.
   • If you already have a manual impact driver, proceed to removing the hopper service panel.
   • If you have already removed the service panel screws, you can disregard the impact driver and use a regular Phillips screwdriver.
