Traeger's Cooking Terms

Grilling

A form of cooking that involves heat applied to the surface of the food. Grilling involves a significant amount of direct, radiant heat.

Smoking

The process of flavoring, browning, cooking or preserving food by exposing it to smoke from burning wood.

Baking

To make food using dry heat.

Roasting

A method that uses dry heat where hot air will cover the food. Roasting cooks it evenly on all sides from an open flame, or other heat source. 

Braising

This method of cooking uses both wet and dry heats. The food is typically first browned at a high temperature. then simmered in a covered pot.

BBQing

A method of cooking that involves food getting cooked over live fire and smoke.
