How to pair and unpair a Traeger Wireless Meat Thermometer with your Westwood series grill.

Pre-Pairing Checklist

  • Download the Traeger app.
    • Traeger wireless probes will not pair with the MEATER app.
  • Turn on the grill.
  • Connect battery to charging dock.
    • If this is your first time using your Traeger Wireless Meat Thermometer, connect the battery by removing the battery cover on the back of the charging case. Pull the tab protecting the battery to allow the battery to make contact.
    • Allow the probe to charge for 4 hours.
    • To check the battery status of the charging dock, press the button next to the LED.
    • Solid Green: Charging dock battery is OK
    • Solid Red: Replace charging dock battery

Pairing Steps

  1. Power on the grill.
  2. With a fully charged wireless probe, remove the probe from the charging dock and hold it close to the controller (within 3 feet).
  3. Tap the wireless probe button.
  4. Once the probe is recognized, a "P" with the temperature will appear on the display.

    • If the probe failed to connect, a red LED light will show underneath the probe icon.

    • If this happens, repeat the steps to attempt pairing again.

How to Forget a Previously Paired Traeger Wireless Meat Thermometer

Use this option to remove a wireless probe from the grill. This is helpful if you need to disconnect or replace the probe. 

  • Make sure the wireless probe is in the charging dock so it does not try to connect to the grill.
  1. Locate the Wireless Probe Button
    Find and press the button with the wireless probe icon on the control panel.

  2. Press and Hold
    Press and hold the wireless probe button for 5 seconds.
    The display will show P with an animated dash to confirm the probe has been forgotten.
  3. Confirmation
    Once complete, the LED under the wireless thermometer button will blink blue and will search for a new probe.
