How to pair your Traeger X MEATER (TXM) wireless meat probes to your new Ironwood or Timberline Traeger grill.

Traeger X MEATER Bluetooth wireless meat probes pair with Traeger's Touchscreen Ironwood, Ironwood XL, Timberline, and Timberline XL models and are controlled via the grill's controller and the Traeger app. These probes will not pair with the MEATER app.

Pre-Pairing Checklist

  • Download the Traeger app

  • Connect battery to charging dock

How to Pair Your Traeger Wireless Probes with a Touchscreen Grill

To pair your wireless meat probe, follow these steps:

  1. If this is your first time using your Traeger Wireless Meat Thermometer, connect the battery by removing the battery cover on the back of the charging case. Pull the tab protecting the battery to allow the battery to make contact.

  2. Allow the probe to charge for 4 hours. The green light on the dock indicates available battery life.

  3. Remove one of the probes from the charging dock to turn it on.

    • Only remove probes from the charging dock one at a time when pairing. If you remove both at the same time, the grill will detect multiple Bluetooth signals and produce an error saying, Error Multiple Probes Detected.

  4. Turn on the grill and make sure the probe is near the grill. A popup should appear on the display of the controller that says, Traeger Wireless Probe Detected. Would you like to pair the probe to your grill? Select, Yes, Pair This Device.

  5. Select a probe number to identify which probe you are pairing.

    • Your probe will come with numbered, metal clips. Attach the numbered clip associated with the numbered probe you selected on the display.

  6. Probe pairing should be successful. You may either go to the probe or pair another device.

    • Return the paired probe back to the charging dock before attempting to pair an additional TXM probe. 

How to Pair Your Traeger Wireless Probes with a Woodridge Series Grill

If this is your first time using your Traeger Wireless Meat Thermometer, connect the battery by removing the battery cover on the back of the charging case. Pull the tab protecting the battery to allow the battery to make contact.

Allow the probe to charge for 4 hours.

To check the battery status of the charging dock, press the button next to the LED.

  • Solid Green: Charging dock battery is OK
  • Solid Red: Replace charging dock battery

Pairing Steps:

  1. Grill should be powered on and not in cook mode. Tap the menu button.

  2. While in the menu, turn the selection dial until the 'Add Bluetooth Accessory' icon lights up in the menu bar and the probe pairing animation below displays on the screen.

  3. Press the selection dial to select this option to begin the pairing process.

  4. The screen will display a pairing animation, indicating that the grill is currently searching for the Traeger Wireless Probe Bluetooth signal.

  5. Remove the wireless meat thermometer from the dock and hold it close (within 3 ft) to your grill controller.
    • Traeger Wireless Meat Thermometers must be paired one at a time to ensure the grill only picks up one Bluetooth signal at a time.

  6. When the grill successfully connects to your wireless probe, you will see a green check animation on the screen and a probe icon with a number 1 or 2.

  7. On the probe menu bar beneath the screen, you will now see the probe icon lit up indicating that the probe is connected. After 5 seconds, the probe icon will dim, indicating that it is no longer selected, and the grill will return to 'Add Bluetooth' setting. You can repeat the above process to pair a second probe.

How to Remove a Previously Paired Traeger Wireless Meat Thermometer

Follow the steps below to disconnect or unpair your Traeger Wireless Meat Thermometer.

  1. Tap the probe button on the grill's controller.

  2. Turn the selection dial to highlight the Traeger Wireless Prove that you would like to disconnect, either probe 1 or probe 2.
  3. With the desired probe highlighted in the probe menu bar and the current probe temperature displayed, press and hold the selection dial for 3 seconds.

  4. If your probe was successfully disconnected, you will hear an audible 'disconnected' tone and the display will show a red X.
    • The probe icon in the probe menu bar will flash and then turn off.

ERROR: Multiple Probes Detected

If you get an error saying, Error Multiple Probes Detected, the grill has found multiple Bluetooth devices that it recognizes as Traeger X MEATER Bluetooth wireless probes. Return any TXM probes back to the charging dock and try again removing only one probe during each pairing attempt.

Pairing FAQs

Can I pair my Traeger Wireless Meat Thermometers with more than one grill?

Each probe can be paired only with one grill at a time.

If you have multiple Bluetooth grills and want to use a paired device on another grill, you may forget the device on the first grill and then pair with the second.

How many wireless probes can I pair with my grill?

  • New Timberline grills support up to 4 wireless probes and up to 2 wired probes.
  • Woodridge Series grills support up to 2 wireless probes and 2 wired probes.

Can I use my Traeger wireless probe with the MEATER app?

Traeger X MEATER probes will not pair with the MEATER app.

Can I pair my MEATER probes with my Traeger grill?

Traditional MEATER probes will not pair with the Traeger grills.
