Step-by-step instructions for how to ignite and shut down your Traeger IronTop grill.
Important: Do not operate the IronTop with the lid closed.
The
lid must remain open when
the grill is in use.
How to Ignite Your IronTop
- Fully open the propane tank.
- Press the burner knob in and rotate to the ignite position.
- There will be a "whooshing" sound when the burner lights.
- If the burner did not light within 5 seconds, turn the burner knob back to the OFF position and wait 5 minutes to allow the gas to dissipate. Repeat until the burner is lit.
- Repeat on other burners.
- Turn burner knob(s) to desired temperature and let the grill preheat for up to 15 minutes.
How to Manually Light Burners
- Access the burner using the matchstick holder, located on the left side of the grill near the grease bucket.
- Confirm the burner has successfully lit by looking through the flame openings above the burner knobs under the cook surface.
How to Shut Down Your IronTop
- Turn burner knobs to the OFF position.
- With the grill still warm, scrape any excess food into the grease and ash keg.
- Allow the cooktop to fully cool and close the lid.
- Close the propane tank valve.
