Smell During Burn In
If your Traeger grill smells like burning plastic or electrical fire during an initial burn in, your grill is burning off manufacturing oils.
Smell During Preheat or Cook
If your Traeger grill smells like burning plastic or electrical fire during preheat or when you cook, please take the step below:
- Let your grill cool down for a few minutes before opening it for diagnosis.
Control Panel Smoke
If smoke is coming out of your grill's control panel, please take the steps below:
- Turn off your grill.
- Unscrew your controller.
- Carefully pull the controller out of your grill.
- If your controller has scorch marks or is damaged, please contact Customer Service.
Melted Cap
Our thermocouples come with an orange protective cap. If you accidentally forgot to remove the protective cap from your thermocouple before starting your grill, please take the steps below:
- Check if the cap has melted onto your thermocouple.
- If the cap hasn't melted, remove the cap from your thermocouple.
- If the cap melted onto your thermocouple, please contact Customer Service.
Damaged Wires
Damaged grill wires are a safety hazard that impact your grill's performance. Take the steps below:
- Check your grill's wires for damage.
- If any wires are damaged, contact Customer Service.
