Steps

  1. Turn off and unplug the grill.

  4. Disconnect and reconnect to ensure a solid connection, even if the harness appears to be connected.
  5. Plug in and power on the grill and check if the error has cleared.
  6. Remove the bottom or side panel of the hopper so you can view the grill's internal components and locate the induction fan.
  7. Ignite the grill so you can check if the fan starts spinning.
    • If the fan is disconnected, the fan will not spin.

Steps

  1. Check your grill's firmware to make sure it's on the latest version.
  2. Was there strong wind when the error triggered?
This error can trigger when winds stronger than 30 mph are blowing into the downdraft exhaust for longer than 10 minutes.
    • If so, the error should clear once restarted. Position the grill so the exhaust is facing toward a wall or at least so the wind is not blowing directly into the downdraft exhaust.
  3. Ensure the grill is cool and finished with its shutdown cycle.
  4. Run a SELF-TEST to ensure there are no disconnects. Follow the steps below:
    1. On the controller display, go to MENU > MAINTENANCE & CARE > SELF-TEST. The test should take about 10 seconds to complete.
    2. If the fan test fails, proceed to the next step.
  5. To continue you'll need to remove your hopper service panel. To remove this panel for the first time, you may need to use an impact driver to remove the screws behind the P.A.L rail on your hopper service panel.
  6. Once you've verified current firmware and have the hopper service panel removed:

    1. Turn off and unplug your grill.
    2. Confirm all connectors are fully connected manually.
    3. Remove the smart combustion cover.
    4. Confirm connections are secure on the motherboard.
    5. Confirm wiring is not pinched, cut, or damaged inside the hopper.
    6. Confirm no obstructions are caught in fan blades.
  7. Rerun a SELF-TEST to ensure connections are solid.

If the fan test fails again, contact Customer Support.
