Steps to replace a U-burner and a burner crossover tube on a Traeger flat top grill.

Replacing a U-Burner

  1. Move all control knobs are in the OFF position. Unplug the grill from power, close the propane tank valve, and disconnect the regulator from the propane tank.
  2. Open the grill lid and remove the cooktop.
  3. Remove the screws holding the igniter and the flame sensor in place.
  4. Remove the left and right screws that hold the U burner in place.

    • If replacing the center U burner, also remove the nut underneath the grill.
  5. With the flame sensor and igniter out of the way, slowly slide the old U Burner out.
  6. Gently slide the new U burner into place, and line it up with the 2 screw holes on the bottom of the grill cavity.
  7. Screw in the left and right sides of the U burner
  8. Reinstall the flame sensor and the ignitor.
  9. Reinstall the flame bridge.
  10. Replace the cooktop and reconnect the regulator hose to the propane tank.

Replacing a Burner Crossover Tube

  1. Move all control knobs are in the OFF position. Unplug the grill from power, close the propane tank valve, and disconnect the regulator from the propane tank.
  2. Open the grill lid and remove the cooktop.
  3. Remove the cotter pins holding the old burner tubes in place.
  4. With cotter pins removed, remove the old burner tube.
  5. Slide the new burner tube into place and set it on the grooves.

  6. Lock the new tube in place with 2 cotter pins. 
  7. Replace the cooktop and reconnect the regulator hose to the propane tank.
