What to do when Error: 0025 Sensor Disconnected appears on your Touchscreen grill. If your grill displays a “Lid Sensor Disconnected” error, it may continue to cook but with reduced performance. Easy walk-through steps including updating firmware, running diagnostics, and checking connections.
What Does the Grill Do when this Message Occurs?
- The grill shows a Sensor Disconnected | Error 0025 message.
- If paired, you will receive a push notification to their phone.
The grill will continue to operate when this error occurs. You will be able to continue current cooks but at reduced performance because the grill does not know if the lid is open or closed.
Cause
The grill cannot communicate with the lid sensor, preventing it from detecting lid position.
What to Do
- Check your grill's firmware to make sure it's on the latest version.
- Run a SELF-TEST to ensure there are no disconnects. Follow the steps below:
- On the controller display, go to MENU>MAINTENANCE & CARE>SELF-TEST. The test should take about 10 seconds to complete.
- If the lid sensor test fails, proceed to the next step.
- Remove the hopper access panel.
Before removing the hopper service panel: check your grill’s manufacturer date.
- June 2023 (2306) or after: Proceed to remove service panel.
- Before June 2023 (2305): Remove the access panel using an impact driver to prevent the possibility of stripped screws. If you don't have one on-hand, contact Traeger Support.
- Remove the hopper side service panel by removing 6 screws (2 located on top of the access panel, 2 below the hopper side rail, and 2 on the bottom of the access panel).
- Once you've verified current firmware and have the hopper service panel removed, turn off and unplug your grill.
- Confirm all connectors are fully connected manually.
- Remove the smart combustion cover.
- Confirm connections are secure on the motherboard.
- Confirm wiring is not pinched, cut, or damaged inside the hopper.
- Confirm no obstructions are caught in fan blades.
- Rerun a SELF-TEST to ensure connections are solid after manually checking.
- If the lid sensor test fails again, contact Customer Support.
- If lid sensor was replaced and you are still getting the error, ensure the QR code sticker was removed prior to installing.
