Find out what the SMOKE setting does and how it works.
Smoking Food
Smoking is the process of flavoring, cooking, or preserving food by exposing it to smoke from burning material—in a Traeger grill's case, wood pellets.
Smoke Setting Temperature
The SMOKE setting on Traeger grills is specific to AC (non-WiFIRE-enabled) grills, and sets the grill to 160º F. Although the SMOKE setting sets the temperature to 160º F, please keep in mind that there will always be temperature variance. The temperature may fluctuate between 160º F and 180º F.
Ideal Smoking Temperature
No matter what temperature you set your Traeger grill, you'll always be smoking your food.
Setting your grill between 160º and 225º F will produce the largest amount of smoke, and is thus where we traditionally consider food smoked.
