The tank prevention rod is in place to prevent an additional propane tank from being stored underneath the IronTop. This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to replace the tank prevention rods on your Traeger IronTop grill. Includes part numbers, required tools, and estimated completion time.

Tools Needed

  • Phillips Screwdriver

Estimated Time to Complete

  • 5 minutes

Replacement Steps

Before Performing Any Replacement Steps:

  • Turn the burner knobs to OFF position
  • Close the propane tank

Remove Old Tank Prevention Rod

  1. Remove the x2 screws from the tank prevention rod (there is 1 screw on each side).

  2. Remove old tank prevention rod.

Install New Tank Prevention Rod

  1. Place the new tank prevention rod on the grill, lining up the loop on the rod with the hole in the grill leg.
  2. Replace the screw on each side of the rod.
