How to Replace a Gas Manifold on an IronTop Griddle

Step-by-step instructions for how to replace the gas manifold on your Traeger IronTop 2-Burner and IronTop 4-Burner flat top grill. Includes part numbers, required tools, and estimated completion time.

Replacement Steps

Remove Old Manifold

Before Performing Any Replacement Steps:

  • Turn burner knobs to OFF position, close the propane tank
  • Ensure the grill is completely cooled
  • Open the lid and remove the cooktop
  1. Disconnect the regulator hose (located underneath the grill near the front right leg).

  2. Remove the burner knobs. Pull the knob off and remove the x2 screws underneath each knob.

  3. Remove the front plate. Unscrew the screws along the top edge of the front plate. These are located underneath the notches along the inside top of the front plate.

    Pro Tip: The 2-burner grill has 3 screws to remove, the 4-burner grill has 4 screws to remove.
  4. Unscrew and remove the screws underneath the front plate.

  5. Remove the front plate.
  6. Remove the old gas manifold by pulling it out of the burner tube holes and unplugging the ignitor wires from the manifold.

Replace New Gas Manifold

  1. Reinstall new gas manifold. Attach the ignitor wires to the new manifold and slide the manifold into the burner tube holes.

  2. Replace the front panel. Place the front panel on and replace the top screws. These are located underneath the notches along the inside top of the front plate.

    Pro Tip: The 2-burner grill has 3 screws to remove, the 4-burner grill has 4 screws to remove.
  3. Replace the x2 screws underneath the front plate.
  4. Replace the x2 burner knob screws.

  5. Replace the burner knobs.
  6. Reattach the regulator hose. Do not use thread sealant tape. Hand tighten only, be sure not to over-tighten. 
  7. Check for gas leaks by opening the propane tank valve but leave burner knobs in the OFF position. 
    • Spray the connection with soapy water and check for bubbles.
    • If bubbles are present, tighten connection.
  8. Replace the cooktop and close the lid.
