Using a Woodridge Series Controller

Controller Overview

  • Full-color digital controller display.
  • Dot-matrix display and capacitive touch buttons.
    • Touch buttons recognize electrical signals from a user's finger and registers it to the touched area of the device.
    • You do not need to press hard for the button to register, just like your phone, you can touch the button, and it will register the press.
    • The dot matrix display will also animate based on what the grill is doing.
    • If the grill is heating up for example, you will see the Set Temperature in orange and there will be a flame icon that indicates the grill is hot and heating up.

Get to Know Your Woodridge Controller

  1. Ignite/Shutdown: Use this button to ignite your grill. If the grill is already running, press and hold this button to initiate a shutdown cycle.
  2. Menu: The menu allows the grill to be connected to WiFIRE, your MEATER probes, and to change temperature units.
  3. Timer: This is for your own convenience and will not affect the operation of the grill.
  4. Probes: After connecting any wired probes via probe jacks or any MEATER probes, tap this button to interact with the connected probes. After tapping this button, you can use the selection dial to toggle between probes.
  5. Wired Meat Probe Jacks: Use these jacks to plug in wired temperature probes.
  6. Status Display: The dot matrix shows current grill temperature, status of cook cycle, and all things related to grill control.
  7. Selection Dial: This dial can be rotated to move up and down through the displayed menu. Press the center to make a selection.
  8. Menu Bar: The menu bar icons light up when tapped. Turn the selection dial to cycle through Grill Connectivity, Add Bluetooth Accessory, and F/C.
  9. Probe Menu Bar: The Probe Menu Bar icons will light up as wired and MEATER thermometers are connected, disconnected, selected, and activated. You're able to connect two wired probes and two MEATER probes.

Controller Layout

  • The Woodridge Pro and Woodridge Elite also have Super Smoke and Keep Warm buttons on their controllers.
  • Because the buttons on all three models are capacitive touch, they do not need to be pressed hard. In fact, they will recognize light touch.
  • If there is a wired probe in the jack and the cord touches a button, it could register as a button press.

Ignite/Shutdown Button

Use this button to ignite your grill. If your grill is already running, press and hold this button to initiate a shutdown cycle.

Menu Button

You can connect your grill to WiFIRE®, connect your Traeger X MEATER® probes, and change temperature units from this menu.

Timer Button

The timer is for your convenience only; it does not affect grill operation. For example, if you need to braise your meat for 15 minutes, set the timer for 15 minutes. A tone will sound when the time is up.

Probes Button

After connecting any wired probes via probe jacks or any Traeger X MEATER® probes via the menu button, tap this button to interact with the connected probes.

  • After tapping this probe button, use the selection dial to toggle between connected probes.
  • When your desired probe lights up in the Probe Menu Bar, press the dial to set/modify a probe goal alert for when a probe has reached the desired internal temperature.
  • The temperature is displayed in 1° increments for the probe set and display temps.

Wired Meat Probe Jacks

Use these jacks to plug in wired temperature probes.

Status Display

This dot matrix display shows current grill temperature, status of cook cycle, and all things related to grill control and function.

  • This readout displays in 5-degree increments.
  • If a temperature fluctuation is detected the grill will only display the change to a new temp after a few minutes.

Selection Dial

Rotate this dial to move up and down through the displayed menu. Press the center of the dial to make a selection. 

Press and hold the dial to enter shutdown mode like previous grills.

Menu Bar

The Menu Bar icons light up when you tap the menu button to indicate which setting you are editing. Turn the selection dial to cycle through these selections.

  • Grill Connectivity Icon: Lights up when you are connecting to WiFIRE® on your grill.
  • Add Bluetooth® Accessory Icon: Lights up when you are pairing Traeger X MEATER Bluetooth® Probes.
  • F/C Icon: Lights up when you are adjusting your grill’s temperature to Fahrenheit or Celsius.

Probe Menu Bar

  • The Probe Menu Bar icons will light up as wired and MEATER® thermometers are connected, disconnected, selected, and activated for goal alerts.
  • Two wired probes and two MEATER® probes can be connected at once.
  • Tap the probe button (upper right button to the left of the status display) to highlight connected probes in this probe menu one at a time.
  • Use the selection dial to toggle between probes and press the dial to set/modify a probe goal alert for an individual probe.

Probe States:

Probe State Description
Off Indicates that the wired or MEATER® probe is not connected
Dim Indicates that this wired or MEATER® probe is connected but not actively selected
On Icons will light up to full brightness when you tap the probe button
Blue A probe icon will turn blue when a probe goal alarm has been set
Blue & Flashing A probe icon will flash blue when a probe goal has been reached
