TIMBERLINE: PELLET SENSOR DISCONNECTED

What to do when the "Pellet Sensor Disconnected" message appears on your new Timberline grill.

  • This error number used to display as "0027" in firmware version 01.00.05. The error number changed to "0028" in firmware version 01.00.06.

CAUSE

The grill does not detect the pellet sensor.

WHAT DOES THE GRILL DO WHEN THIS ERROR OCCURS?

The grill continues to cook but at a reduced performance.

WHAT TO DO

  1. Make sure FIRMWARE is up to date.
    1. If the error number displayed is the old number, update the firmware. 

    2. Find the ABOUT GRILL menu option on your controller display, or check this on the Traeger App.
    3. Manually confirm all connectors are fully connected.
      1. Confirm all connections on the motherboard are secure.
        1. Remove the hopper access panel on the right side of the hopper. 
        2. Remove the Smart Combustion cover.
        3. Disconnect and reconnect all connectors.
        4. Confirm cable connection to pellet sensor is secure.
        5. Confirm wiring is not pinched, cut damaged inside the hopper.
  2. Run SELF-TEST.
    • If the pellet sensor does not fail, you're good to get Traegering!
    • If the error returns or the pellet sensor fails, contact Customer Support.
