Frequently asked questions about Traeger grill grates. If you have additional questions, please contact Customer Support.
WHAT ARE TRAEGER GRILL GRATES MADE OF?
Traeger grill grates are either stainless steel or porcelain coated cast iron.
CAN I UPGRADE MY STAINLESS STEEL GRATES FOR CAST IRON?
We do sell cast iron grill grates that you can use to replace your stainless steel grates. However, the design of our cast iron grates differ from our stainless steel grates, so some grill models may not function optimally if switched.
- Timberline Series: Timberline grills have a continuous shelf across the back, and they have less space because of the full insulation.
- Ironwood Series: Shelving would obstruct airflow.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY GRILL GRATES?
Before and after each cook, scrape food residue off the grates.
Pro Tip 1: Scrape the grates when they're still warm.
Pro Tip 2: When cleaning your grill grates, avoid wire-bristle brushes as wire brushes can scratch grate coating, resulting in rust and a reduction of our grates' non-stick abilities.
When doing a deeper cleaning on your grill, spray the grates with a non-chemical degreaser and let sit for a few minutes before using a heavy-duty paper towel to wipe down the grates.
