PELLET SENSOR

What's in This Article?

The Traeger Pellet Sensor lets you monitor the pellet levels in your WiFIRE® grill through the Traeger app, as well as receive alerts when pellet levels are low.

HOW TO USE A PELLET SENSOR

Your pellet sensor will communicate your pellet levels to your controller and to your app.

  • To view the pellet level on your grill, turn on your controller and go to Menu > Pellet Sensor.
  • To view the pellet level on the app, go to your grill's dashboard and see the 'Pellets' module.

GRILLS COMPATIBLE WITH PELLET SENSOR

The pellet sensor accessory is compatible only with WiFIRE-enabled grills. While not every WiFIRE-enabled grill comes standard with a pellet sensor, you may purchase one as an add-on accessory. AC (non-WiFIRE) grills are not compatible with the accessory.

RESOLVE PELLET SENSOR ISSUES

If you experience issues with your pellet sensor, first review these steps before calling Customer Service.

  1. Check the connectors for damage.
  2. Ensure the grill being used is compatible.
  3. Ensure the grill is on the latest firmware.
  4. For the latest versions, check www.Traeger.com/status
  5. Make sure nothing is blocking the sensor.
  6. Power cycle the grill using the switch on the back of the hopper.
  7. Clear the Cache by following these steps (do these steps if it fails to calibrate):
    1. Power off the grill (Including switch on the back)
    2. Disconnect Pellet sensor
    3. Power grill on (temp select screen)
    4. Power off the grill (Including switch on the back)
    5. Reconnect Pellet Sensor
    6. Power grill on
    7. Run Pellet Sensor calibration
  8. Make sure the grill is off when unplugging the sensor and plugging it back in. If the pellet sensor is connected while the grill is on, it will not work until rebooted.

'PELLET LEVEL LOW' NOTIFICATION

Pellet Level Low indicates that you need to add more pellets to your hopper. Adding pellets should clear this notifications.

Should you get this error and your hopper is full, try calibrating the pellet sensor.

PELLET SENSOR 'CALIBRATION ERROR'

calibration.png

Calibration Error won't prevent you from using your grill, but should you receive this error, try the following:

  1. Check if the pellet sensor is clean. Dust from the pellets can build up on the sensor, but not to the extent that you need to take it apart.
    • If the sensor is not clean, wipe it clean.
  2. Try to calibrate the pellet sensor again.
  3. If you aren't able to calibrate your pellet sensor and the error message won't go away, please contact our Customer Service.
