This article explains how to resolve the problem found when pairing an iPhone, Unable to Connect - Grill Cannot Connect to Network.

'UNABLE TO CONNECT - GRILL CANNOT CONNECT TO NETWORK'

There are two common causes for this error, each listed below. In either case, you will need to access the router setup screen to view the network details or to make changes. Refer to the manual supplied with the router for instructions.

CAUSE 1

WiFi network password or grill information was entered incorrectly.

Resolution

Verify that your home WiFi network name and password are correct.

CAUSE 2

The grill is attempting to connect to a 5GHz home WiFi network rather than a 2.4GHz network.

Resolution

Many modern routers broadcast on both 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands. Verify that your WiFi network that your grill is attempting to connect to is a 2.4GHz network. Two factors may be causing this confusion:

  1. The network name does not always reflect which frequency is being used.
  2. Some routers allow 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks to be given the same name. Regardless of the network name, your grill and phone must be on the same network. If your phone is on the 5GHz network and your grill is looking for a 2.4GHz network of the same name, they still won’t pair because they’re not on the same network.
